I will focus on crime control and law and order: Satyajit Mohanty

Bhubaneswar, 21/11: Senior IPS officer Satyajit Mohanty  took over as the interim Director General of Police at the police headquarter in Cuttack on Thursday morning. Assuming the charge, the new interim DGP said he would focus on control of crime and maintenance of law and order. Mohanty, a 1988-batch IPS officer who was Special DG (Prisons), has also been appointed as Special DG (Intelligence). He will continue in the post of DGP  till DGP-designate  Abhay takes charge. Abhay, a 1986-batch IPS officer, is currently Director of National Police Academy in Hyderabad. Mohanty replaced BK Sharma, who was earlier DGP-in charge . Sharma was removed from the post  late on Wednesday night and a probe was ordered against him for alleged noncompliance with government instructions to fire safety clearances.
