Bhubaneswar, 20/11: Only ten days are left for the resumption of vehicle. So, huge rush is witnessed in the regional transport offices to various documents. The state government had granted three months reprieve to vehicle owners after the violent public outburst at various places including the busy Rajmahal Square in the heart of the capital city. But the vehicle owners were asked to keep their documents ready by November 30. And the deadline now is nearing end. The defaulters will have to cough up hefty fine for the violation of the amended traffic rules. Huge hoardings warning the public have been installed at various strategic places including gram panchayat offices, police stations, district headquarters and crowded locations across the city. The traffic violators will have to pay a fine of Rs 1000 for not wearing seat belt, Rs 5000 for not obeying traffic signal, Rs 3000 for three persons riding a bike, Rs 5000 each for driving vehicle without license and for speedy driving, Rs 10,000 for not giving passage to the ambulance and also the same amount for drunk driving and talking on mobile phone while driving. Besides, vehicle owners will be fined for not having the valid pollution test certificate. License has been issued to various petrol pumps and private individuals to conduct pollution test and issue certificate to this effect. However, confusion still persists in the public mind about the validity of online and offline pollution test certificates. Many admit that they have still not obtained the required documents, which will be checked from December 1. They hope that the deadline will be extended further as the government had not completed the issuance of required documents.
