Home delivery of liquor soon in Odisha: Rs 50 service tax on purchase of Rs 500

Cuttack, May 22: The state government is mulling to levy Rs 50 service charge on home delivery of liquor of minimum Rs 500. This has been decided by a high level excise committee assigned to finalise the modality of online liquor sale in the state, said an excise official close to it. High rush is expected soon after opening of liquor shops in the state. In a bid to avoid coronavirus infection, the high level committee has decided to promote sale of liquor on online platforms, the official added. The food delivery companies can deliver liquor at home obtaining requisite permission from the excise department. Detailed information regarding name of liquor shops, company and price etc. will be available on the website of the Odisha State Beverages Corporation Limited (OSBCL) for the home delivery companies. Similarly, the companies will submit detailed data of delivery boys engaged in the service to the excise department.
