High Court directs a Gunupur court for re-trial of a murder case in which death sentence has been awarded to nine

Cuttack, 5/11: The Orissa High Court today directed the Additional District Judge, Gunupur to conduct fresh hearing on the case, in which nine accused had been awarded death sentence in a murder case. The direction was issued by the High Court during a hearing today to confirm the death sentence awarded by the ADJ, Gunupur. The murder was committed in 2016 in Pottangi police station area under Gunupur subdivision of Rayagada district, in which three members of a family had been killed on the suspicion of witchcraft. Prosecution lawyer Asit Kumar Chowdhury said that he had enough evidence for the conviction of the accused persons. These evidences would be produced before the court during the retrial.
