Havildars, Constables wear black badges on duty

Bhubaneswar: About 70,000 police personnel are staging a protest by wearing black badges on duty against “lackadaisical” attitude of the State Government for fulfilment of their demands.

The Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy  Mahasngha also threatened to launch a cease-work stir if their demands are not fulfilled today.

According to sources, the low-paid employees are doing their duty, even as they are wearing black badges. “We are wearing black-badges only to make the Government aware of our demands,” said some employees.

They have demanded that insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh and payment of salary as per the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.
