Kandhamal: The Kandhamal Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) Sangha today staged a demonstration in front of Phiringia block demanding Rs 50 lakh to the kin of the deceased of Sunjukta Digal, who shot dead by Maoists while on poll duty.
The association also demanded a Government job for the family members of the deceased woman.
Poll supervisor Sanjukta Digal, who was serving as a GRS, was shot dead by a suspected Maoist at Bandapada in Gochhapada police limits in the district today.
The mishap occurred when on-duty woman poll official along with other officials were on their way to polling booths for supervision.
Digal, who sustained grievous injuries in her head in the firing, was rushed to a hospital and later shifted to the DHH where doctors declared her brought dead.
Earlier in the day, a group of Maoists torched a four-wheeler and a bike that were heading to Mungunipadar under Phiringia police limits in the district on election duty, sources said.
Kandhamal district will go to polls in second phase on Thursday.
