Bhubaneswar: Ramchandrapur police on Monday arrested eight persons in connection with the poll-related group fight occurred at Gadabandhagoda Bhandaripada in Keonjhar district on Sunday in which Congress candidate for Jashipur Assembly constituency Niranjan Patnaik and a dozen others were injured.
The arrested eight persons belonged to two groups indulged in the fight yesterday.
According to reports, PCC president Patnaik, Congress observer Ramesh Jena and 20 others, belonging to both the BJD and the Congress, were injured in the fight occurred during an election rally.
Besides, some vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
Following the incident, Patnaik lodged an FIR at Ramchandrapur PS and the went to Anandpur Hospital for treatment.
