Govt accepts BJP MLA candidate Budhan Murmu’s resignation

Bhubaneswar: The State Government today accepted the resignation of Dr Budhan Murmu who has been fielded by BJP as its candidate for Saraskana Assembly segment in Mayurbhanj district.

The Health and Family Welfare Department issued a notification to this effect.

Today, a delegation of the opposition BJP met Chief Secretary and Health Secretary at the State Secretariat over the issue.

Earlier on Wednesday, a team led party vice-president Samir Mohanty staged a dharna in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence demanding early acceptance of the resignation of its candidate Dr Budhan Murmu.

Though he had submitted his resignation on October 4 last year, but the same was not accepted. He was a doctor at the Rangamatia Primary Health Centre in Mayurbhanj district.
