Government may act ruthlessly against quarantine violators for the safely of larger people: Subroto Bagchi

Bhubaneswar, May 4: The job of the government is to safeguard life of 4.5 crore people of the state; the government may exercise its utmost power on quarantine violators for any conduct endangering the safely of others in the context of COVID-19, warned Chief Spokesperson for the state Subroto Bagchi. The statement came following several reports about violation of norms by inmates in quarantine centres. The state government is trying to bring back stranded migrant Odias from different parts of the country and 8,830 persons have already returned to the state in the last 24 hours. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said people returning home from outside the state must abide by all government rules to protect themselves and their families. Otherwise, he has directed to take strong action against persons who violate quarantine norms in the state, said Bagchi.And, those who are escaping from quarantine centre should keep it in mind that it is a matter of only few hours for the government to trace them out, he said. He appealed to the returnees from other states to cooperate with the government and said adequate arrangements have been made for returnees in different quarantine centres in the state.Ground zero health workers are working day and night to protect people from the deadly virus and the returnees should also discharge their responsibilities with sacrifice, he added.
