Gas tanker, truck collide in Sambalpur; 2 drivers burnt alive

Bhubaneswar: In a heartrending incident, two drivers were burnt alive soon after an gas tanker and a iron ore-laden truck collided head-on at Jujumara in Sambalpur district late on Friday night.

On being informed by locals, fire brigades went to the spot and extinguished the fire after a few hours’ attempt. The deceased were yet to be identified.

According to reports, the gas tanker was coming from Rairkhale side and the iron ore loaded truck from Sambalpur side and they both were running at high speed when the mishap occurred at about 4 am. By the impact of the accident, the oil tank of a truck caught fire. Soon, the blaze spread. The drivers were pressed in the cabins and couldn’t come out. Both of them were burnt alive.

Police have started investigation to know the identity of the drivers.
