Ganjam bus tragedy: Death toll reaches 9; CM announces Rs 2 lakh ex gratia to families of deceased

Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the death of nine persons in the Ganjam bus tragedy and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved families. The Chief Minister announced ex gratia of Rs two lakh each to the kin of the deceased and announced free treatment to all injured. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed deep condolences over the bus tragedy and demanded a detailed probe to avoid such incidents in future. At least nine persons were electrocuted to death and around 30 injured when a bus came in contact with a live were in Ganjam district on Sunday. The accident occurred at Tulu village under Rangeilunda tehsil. The injured have been admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The bus came in contact with an 11-KV overhead sagging wire. As many as 37 persons were travelling in the bus.
