Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Commissionerate Police on Saturday arrested gangster Sandeep Acharya alias Raja on charges of collecting extortion money. Capital police has arrested Gangster Raja Acharya for demanding Rs 20,000 extortion money from a person in the city, said DCP Umashankar Dash. Over 30 cases were registered against the gangster in various police stations in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Raja was the main accused in killing judo coach Biranchi Das on April 13, 2008 in Bhubaneswar and was arrested from Goa on May 28 in the same year. Raja, who is a murder convict serving a life sentence, was released from jail on bail in April last year, police said. He was also awarded a four-year jail term in October 2011 for abducting Arun Mantri, brother of Ollywood actress Bidusmita in April 2008, police said.
