Bhubaneswar: The Gajalaxmi Puja began today amid great fervour in the State. The puja incepts on Kumar Purnima, which is the full-moon day.
The festival is observed in Dhenkanal and Kendrapara districts in majestic styles to welcome Goddess Laxmi, who is considered to be the goddess of wealth. The Laxmi Puja festivity in these districts draws crowd from across the State.
While the festival is observed for 11-days in Dhenkanal it is a nine-day affair in Kendrapara. Puja pandals on innovative themes have been erected in both the cities.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in these districts to ensure that the festivity passes peacefully.
In Bhubaneswar too, puja pandals have been erected at Unit-VIII, Kharavela Nagar, Ashok Nagar and Bapuji Nagar.
