Bhubaneswar: While the rift between two groups of lawyers over jointing of court works has escalated, as many as four camp courts are running in the Choudwar jail campus since this morning.
SDJM, Rural JMFC, ADJ and JMFC camp courts are now running in the Choudwar jail campus amid tight security, according to reports.
The camp courts are running to hear bail applications of various under-trial prisoners on the direction of the High Court.
While court works have been disrupted for the last two months, the numbers of cases have piled up proportionately. The State’s all 91 jails have been over-crowded as bail pleas and case disposals have been disrupted due to the strike of lawyers.
The number of inmates has increased to over 18,600 against accommodation capacity of 16,000, said reports.
