Bhubaneswar, Sep 24: Former Odisha Minister and senior Congress leader Sheik Matlub Ali passed away here today. He was 78.
According to family members, he was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on September 7 and breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital today morning.
Ali, born on December 16, 1942, was the MLA for four times of Mahanga constituency as Congress candidate in 1974, 1980, 1985, and 1995.
Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal has condoled demise of Ali and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. His passing away is a big loss for Odisha.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condoled Ali’s death.
