Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: Veteran Naga politician and former Governor of Odisha Dr. SC Jamir has been conferred with Padma Bhushan.
The former Nagaland Chief Minister was awarded the third highest civilian honour in the field of public affairs on the occasion of 71st Republic Day.
Jamir has served as the governor of Odisha from 2013 to 2018 and has created a space in the hearts of Odia people during his tenure. The veteran leader has proved himself as a secular leader and was having a good equation with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The prominent tribal leader has served five terms as the Chief Minister of Nagaland between 1980 and 1990 and again between 1993 and 2003.
He has also served as the Governor of Goa, Maharastra and Gujarat from 2004 to 2010.
