Former Minister Bhagabat Mohanty passes away

Bhubaneswar: Former Higher Education Minister Bhagabat Mohanty passed away at his residence here today.

He was 92. Mohanty represented the Kendrapara Assembly constituency thrice. He had won the elections in 1971 with the ticket of Praja Socialist Party (PSP) for the first time and then in 1985 and 1995 as a Congress candidate.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed condolences over death of the veteran leader. Describing the late leader as an able administrator and a seasoned politician, Patnaik conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik also condoled the death of the veteran leader.
