Former BJD MLA with disproportionate assets arrested in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: Former BJD MLA Anam Naik was today arrested by the Vigilance for allegedly amassing properties disproportionate to his known source of income. Earlier the vigilance had conducted raids on the house of the former legislator on Friday and has traced assets of Anam and his family members to the tune Rs 3.42 crore. Anam had won from Bhawanipatna Assembly seat in 2014 elections on a BJD ticket. However, he was denied BJD ticket from the seat in 2019 elections.   The Vigilance has traced assets including one duplex lodge with foreign liquor shop, two market complexes, two single-storey buildings, six agricultural and non-agricultural plots worth Rs 94 lakh and deposits in different banks amounting to over Rs 49 lakh, investment in insurance policies of the former legislator and his family members.
