Five-year-old boy dies after ambulance gets stuck in busy traffic in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Feb 11: In a tragic incident, a five-year-old boy reportedly died after the ambulance shifting him to a Patia based private hospital got stuck in the traffic.

As per reports, the boy was initially admitted to the state run Capital Hospital after he started vomiting. Doctors at the hospital referred him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated. His family members, however, decided to shift him to a private hospital in Patia area.

The ambulance got stuck in the traffic during the journey between Raj Bhawan Square and Damana Square. The father of the deceased said that as the road was congested he himself alighted from the ambulance and tried to clear the road for the ambulance.

The situation worsened after the ambulance reached Jaydev Vihar as the road connection Jaydev Vihar and Patia was even congested. It took the ambulance nearly one hour to cover the distance between Capital Hospital and Patia.

Doctors at the private hospital in Patia declared the boy received dead.
