Five timber smugglers arrested in Keonjhar’s Anandpur

Ananadapur, July 13: Five timber smugglers were arrested by the forest department on Monday from Meghanadpoi reserved forest under the Anandpur forest range in Keonjhar district.

The forest officials also seized four bikes and three wood logs from the accused persons.

The arrested have been identified as Madan Mohan Behera, Santosh Behera, Manmath Bhera, Tukuna Dehuri and Kailash Munda of Ramachandrapur area.

According to sources, the forest officials were tipped of about five persons cutting trees in the reserved forest, following which they conducted a raid at the forest and arrested the five persons.

“Four motorcycles and wood logs have been seized from the accused persons,” informed a forest officials.
