Seven dead, 40 injured after bus falls into gorge in Odisha

Berhmapur, Jan 29: Atleast seven people were killed and many others injured after a passenger bus fell into Taptapani gorge in Gajapati district in the wee hours of Wednesday. The death toll is likely to increase as many passengers have sustained serious injuries. As per reports, the ill-fated bus named Maruti was carrying about 50 persons and was heading towards Berhampur from Kashipur in Rayagada when the driver of the bus lost control over the wheels due to dense fog. {"align":"center","id":25304,"sizeSlug":"large"} The bus veered off the road and fell from a height of around 30 feet. The bus also turned turtle leaving behind many passengers trapped in the bus. Locals of Patapur, police personnel and personnel of Odisha Fire Service reached the spot immediately and conducted a rescue operation. The injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital while the critical ones have been referred to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
