Cuttack: The agitating lawyers who have been staging cease-work agitation since August 29, called off the strike today after three police personnel accused of thrashing a lawyer tendered unconditional apology in the High Court.
They will join duty from Thursday. The lawyers are on strike since August 29 demanding immediate arrest of the police personnel involved in the attack on advocate Debi Patnaik on August 28 at Nua Bazaar in Cuttack, which sparked off the lawyers’ stir.
Notably, the HC on Monday revoked the State Government’s decision to reinstate the three policemen, who were suspended for allegedly assaulting Patnaik.
The HC on Tuesday posted the hearing on a petition over police-lawyers dispute to Thursday as the Crime Branch once again failed to submit the inquiry report into the incident. The CB is probing the alleged attack by three police personnel following the Supreme Court.
