Female elephant found dead in Rourkela forest

Bhubaneswar: After a few days’ lull, a body of a female elephant was recovered from near near Bakhatola village under the Banki forest range in Sundargarh district’s Rourkela forest division early this morning.

According to reports, a herd of more than a dozen of elephants have now guarded the dead jumbo at the spot. While the exact reason behind death of the pachyderm was yet to be known it is suspected that she died after coming in contact with a live wire.

On being informed by locals, forest personnel have reached the spot and started investigation.
