Bhubaneswar: The tropical cyclone ‘Fani’ is 80 kilometre away from Puri in the Bay of Bengal and is moving at a speed of 17 km per hour now. It expected to make landfall near Puri at 10 am today, according to the latest reports of the IMD.
At the time of landfall, the cyclone is expected to blow at a speed between 170 to 180 km per hour. The speed of wind blow would cross 200 kmph at some places too, predicted the India Meteorological Department.
Now, wind is blowing at a speed of 150 km in Puri and in Gopalpur in Ganjam district. While the IMD has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rains in coastal as well as in all other parts of the State, rains have already started lashing Puri, Gopalpur and other coastal parts of the State.
