Fani death toll rises to 43 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The death toll due to cyclone Fani has increased to 43 as two more bodies have been recovered, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi on Saturday.

The highest 21 casualty was reported in Puri district, where the severe extremely cyclonic storm made landfall on May 3 morning.

As per the Situation Report released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), at least 1,50,94,321 people have been affected in 14 districts – Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Puri.

A total 159 blocks, 52 ULBs, 16659 villages, 5,08,467 houses and 87,39,657 livestock were affected and 34,56,362 livestock casualties were also reported.
