Bhubaneswar: The Inter-ministerial team led by Ministry of Home Affairs Additional Secretary today Vivek Bharadwaj visited Arakhakuda in Krushnaprasad block and Hasinapur village in Brahmagiri in Puri district to assess the damage caused due to the Cyclone Fani.
The team members would make field visits to affected areas in Cuttack district tomorrow and the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation areas on Wednesday.
The team members will make assessment of damages caused by the cyclonic storm and then will have a high-level meeting with Chief Secretary AP Paddy to appraise him about their assessment before leaving for New Delhi.
Based on the assessment, the Central Government will release financial assistance to the State.
As per the Situation Report released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), at least 1,50,94,321 people have been affected in 14 districts – Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh and Puri.
Puri is the worst hit as the extremely cyclonic storm made landfall nearby Puri on May 3 causing widespread damage to the power, water and communication facilities.
