Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Minister Janaki Ballabh Patnaik’s son Prithvi Ballabh Patnaik today expressed his wish to contest the upcoming elections from Begunia Assembly segment.
“Congress workers of Bolagarh and Begunia blocks love me very much. They are very affectionate towards Congress. And my prime duty is to ensure that Congress performs well in Begunia,” said Patnaik.
Patnaik said that the constituents want him to contest elections but party leadership is yet to take the final decision.
To strengthen the Congress, Patnaik has been camping in Begunia block in Khurda district since last few months. Notably, Janaki Ballav had once a very strong organization in Begunia.
Meanwhile, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) working committee president Chiranjeev Biswal today informed that the list of candidates for the first phase elections is likely to be released on March 17 or 18. Polling will be held in four phases in the State on April 11, 13, 18 and 23.
