Bhubaneswar: In yet another police encounter, two hardcore criminals were injured and nabbed at Golanthara in Brahmapur city late on Friday night.
The criminals, identified as Ganesh Nayak and Hrushi Patro, were first rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
In the incident, three other associates of Ganesh and Hrushi managed to flee from the spot and Goshaninuagaon PS IIC and SI were too injured.
According to reports, the police were searching for the criminals as they were allegedly involved in the murder of the Aska Congress MLA candidate Manoj Jena. On Friday night, police intercepted the five criminals and asked them to surrender. But, the criminals opened fire at the police and tried to escape. Police retaliated with firing in which Ganesh and Hrushi received bullet injuries.
Police have started further investigations.
