Bhubaneswar, June 3: Eminent Odia litterateur, Dr Nityananda Satpathy is no more. He was 83. Dr Satpathy had been fighting with cancer since long. He is survived by poet-wife Prativa Satpathy and four daughters-Paramita, Madhubrata, Asita and Ipsita. Born in Garei Sasan village under Tirtol block of Jagatsinghpur district on October 25 1937, Nityananda had passed graduation and post graduation in 1960 and 1962 respectively from Ravenshaw College. He received Ph D degree from Utkal University. Satpathy was indulged in teaching and research in Odia literature in Ravenshaw College and Utkal University. He superannuated in 1997 as the Professor of Satyabadi Chair. Nityananda has written several books including the biography of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das titled as "Hey Saathi, Hey Sarathi". He had co-authored a book "Ama Kabita"with his poet-wife Prativa. He was associated with several literary and cultural organisations such as Odisha Sahitya Academy, Pujyapuja Sansad, Sampatrika and Sarala Puraskar. Sarala Puraskar was instituted because of his initiative.
