Eminent litterateur Bauribandhu Kar passes away at 69

Bhubaneswar, Sep 19: Eminent litterateur Prof Bauribandhu Kar passed away due to cardiac arrest at his residence here on Friday evening. He was 69.

Kar, born in September 12, 1951 in Khanditar village in Jajpur district, has won many gold medals in Odia language.

He was a professor in the Department of Oriya at Jhajpur College, JKBK College, Ravenshaw College, Bhadrak College, Keonjhar College and Berhampur University. He earned a Ph.D. degree in research on modern Odia literature under the title of Kampal Mishra.

Kar has written several books including ‘Odia Sahityara Itihasa’, ‘Odia Prabandha Sahitya’, ‘Swadhinata Parabarti Odia Upanyasa’, ‘Subarna Samalochana’, ‘Abhinandana Grantha’, ‘Samalochana Bharati’, ‘Chintana Anuchintana’, ‘Nana Alochana’ and ‘Surendra Samikhya’.

The Odisha Sahitya Akademi and several eminent personalities and litterateurs have condoled Kar’s demise.
