Bhubaneswar: Elephants continued creating havoc in villages under Champua forest range in Keonjhar district for consecutive third day.
The jumbo herd damaged houses and ate paddy on acres of paddy at Sarei village last night. The elephants are moving in the nearby Patala jungle now, according to reports.
On Friday night, the pachyderms had damaged a house and ate quintals of rice of Chintamani Mahant in Binika village.
Despite attempts, forest officials have failed to drive away the pachyderms into the forest.
It may be noted that elephants coming from the nearby jungle often enter human habitations in search of food.
