Elephant freed after a six-hour-long rescue operation in Odisha

Digapahandi, Feb 2: Forest officials freed an elephant was trapped in a well in Ganjam district after a six-hour-long rescue operation. The elephant fell into a well on Saturday night when a herd of around 15 elephants were travelling towards Alarigarg forests from Digapahandi area in the district. The villagers came to the animal’s rescue as soon as they heard of it being trapped in a pit but in vain. {"id":25625,"sizeSlug":"large"} A team of 50 forest department employees rushed to the spot being informed about the incident and launched an operation to rescue the pachyderm. The rescue operation lasted for around six hours with the help of a JCB machine and finally the animal was rescued safely.
