Bhubaneswar: Sunita Biswal and Amita Biswal, both the daughters of Congress veteran and former Chief Minister Hemananda Biswal lost the elections.
Sunita and Amita – both the poll debutants – were competing from rival parties in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, bite the dust.
Hemananda’s elder daughter Sunita, a BJD nominee for Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat, ended third while her sister Amita, who was contesting from the Sundergarh Assembly seat on a Congress ticket, also met with the same fate.
Interestingly, Hemananda himself was elected as MP of Sundargarh on a Congress ticket in 2009.
Union Minister Jual Oram won the Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat with over 2 lakh votes. Amita was defeated by BJP’s Kusuma Tete.
