Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: Enforcement Directorate (ED) had decided to take up the investigation into money trail against sacked forest official Sarat Chandra Panda. Earlier the Odisha Government in October last year had given compulsory retirement to Panda, who was allegedly involved in disproportionate assets case worth Rs 3 crore. In February 2017 Income Tax officials had raided the office and house of Panda who was then the Divisional Forest Officer of Nuapada on charges of tax evasion and hoarding of cash. The office chamber of the officer at Khariar and his house at Gouri Nagar in Bhubaneswar were raided by the income tax sleuths. During further investigation, it was ascertained that the cash was deposited by him during demonetisation in November, 2016 in the accounts of his family members. Subsequently Panda was arrested by the state Vigilance.
