New Delhi, Jan 31: The Budget Session of Parliament will commence today with an address by President Ram Nath Kovind.
President Kovind will deliver a speech in the Central Hall of Pariliament to the joint sitting of two Houses of Parliament at 11 am.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will also chair a meeting of floor leaders of Rajya Sabha at his residence.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present Union Budget 2020-21 on February 1.
Before it, the government will release the Economic Survey for 2019-2020 today, which is a detailed report card on the economic performance throughout the year.
The annual document of the finance ministry reviews economic progress and issues over the past 12 months in details including performance of major developmental scheme introduced by the union government.
The first phase of the session will conclude on February 11. The second phase will begin from March 2 and end on April 3.
