Bhubaneswar: The six-member team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) today held discussions with representatives of BJD, BJP and the Congress on the preparations made for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections due by May in the State.
While Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Narasingha Mishra led the Congress team, Bhrugu Baxipatra headed BJP delegation while Amar Satpathy and Sasmit Patra represented the ruling BJD.
After meeting with the ECI official, Narasingha said that they informed the Commission about misuse of Government agencies by both Centre and Odisha Government.
“We also requested for a free and fair election protecting the integrity of elections,” said Mishra.
BJP representative Baxipatra said that the party informed the ECI team about the Biju Yuva Vahini and misuse of power by the ruling party in the State.
On the other hand, BJD leader Amar Patnaik said that they intimated the Election Commission officials about the involvement of BJP leaders in Bijepur poll violence and cash hoarding at petrol pumps.
