Drug- and -loot gang on the prowl once again in Cuttack

Cuttack, 11/12: The drug and loot gang has been active once again in Cuttack city. Miscreants to drugged a business by offering him tea and looted Rs 50,000 from him at Pithapur area today. The businessman was hospitalised in unconscious condition. According to reports, businessman Rajendra Baisali was found lying unconscious in his cloth shop at Pithapur at around 2 pm. A glass was also lying near him. Family members discovered that around Rs 50,000 was missing from the cash box. Ambulance was called to shift the unconscious businessman to the hospital. But as the ambulance did not come, the local traders rushed him to the hospital. The looters have been active in Cuttack city for last several months. More than 9 loot cases have been reported during the last nine months. On November 25, miscreants had looted cash from Kathjodi railway ticket counter. On October 3, a looter was nabbed by the locals while he was attempting to snatch a gold chain from a woman near Barabati Stadium. Similarly on September 26, miscreant had attempted to loot by opening fire at a rice mill at Nuapatna near Choudwar on the city outskirts, which led to death of Lalit Singh from Dhenkanal. On September 9, miscreants in the disguise of police had looted gold from women in Mahanadi Vihar. On July 7, miscreants had looted gold ornaments worth lakhs from CDA area. On April 2, looters had hurled bombs on the Vishal Petrol Pump after being unsuccessful in loot attempt. On March 20, miscreants looted Rs 2.5 lakh from a senior citizen in front of Madhupatna police station.
