Bhubaneswar: An Odia video journalist working with the Doordarshan was killed in an attack by Maoists in Aranpur in Maoist stronghold Dantewada in Chhattisgarh today.
The deceased was identified as Achyutananda Sahu from Loisingha in Bolangir district.
Sahu was part of the Doordarshan team that had visited the Maoist-prone region for the ensuing Assembly election coverage there. The mishapoccurred at around 11:20 am today when the team was heading towards Nilvaya village from Aranpur, sources said.
During the attack, two security personnel also lost their lives.
As per reports, 111 battalion of CRPF have been rushed to the spot for reinforcement and evacuation.
Meanwhile Union I&B Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted, “Strongly condemn the Naxal attack on @DDNewsLive crew in Dantewada. Deeply saddened by the demise of our cameraman Achyuta Nanda Sahu and two jawans of @crpfindia. These insurgents will NOT weaken our resolve. We WILL prevail.”
