Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been severely affected in the Titilagarh town in Bolangir district due to a 12-hour bandh being observed to press for the demand of giving special district status to Titilagarh.
The Titilagarh Zilla Kriyanusthan Committee is observing the dawn-to-dusk bandh. “We have been demanding that Titilagarh be declared a special district so that administration can be decentralised and people will benefit out it. But the Government has always paid deaf years to our demand. We have been forced to call a bandh,” said committee members.
Shops and bazaars have remained closed due to the bandh. Similarly, vehicular movement has been disrupted as activists have closed the roads at different places. Hundred of roads have stranded at different places in the town.
Adequate police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the bandh.
