Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today blasted the State Government for reportedly adopting delay tactics and not extending support for the ambitious Digha-Gopalpur Coastal Highway project.
The Digha-Gopalpur Coastal highway project is being developed at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore under the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
“The proposed 450 km long Digha-Gopalpur Coastal highway projects is the grandest infrastructure project ever undertaken in Odisha. It will create unprecedented avenues for development in the state. But its execution is still a dream due to the delay tactics and non-cooperation by the ruling BJD Odisha Government,” said Pradhan in a press conference.
On the other hand BJD hit back the Union Minister saying Centre’s Digha-Gopalpur Coastal Highway plan is like old wine in new bottle.
“Odisha wants highways along its coast. But Centre’s plan is like old wine in new bottle. Centre has not provided any data or held discussion about the project with State,” said BJD spokesperson and Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena.
