Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today suggested the State Government to cut down taxes on petrol and diesel.
Pradhan said, “In 2014, the State Government was generating revenue of Rs 3,000 crore from petrol and diesel. Now, there has been a growth of over 139 per cent in VAT revenue from petrol and diesel.”
“Instead of reducing tax to bring down the price, the State Government is asking the centre to cut price,” said Pradhan here.
Many States have reduced taxes on fuel and the Odisha Government should slash the taxes, added Pradhan.
Retail selling prices of every litre of petrol and diesel in Bhubaneswar is being sold at around Rs 79.
Earlier on September 7, Pradhan too asked the Naveen Patnaik Government to slash taxes on fuel.
