DGP suspends Gop police station IIC

Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma on Friday suspended Gop police station Inspector in-charge (IIC) Soumyachit Mishra for taking bribe.

Mishra was caught red-handed by Vigilance sleuths on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a complainant for initiating a criminal case against unknown persons.

During the period of suspension, Mishra will remain under the disciplinary control of Central Range IG, Cuttack.

“DGP has placed Soumyachit Mishra, ex-IIC Gop police station in Puri district under suspension with immediate effect pending drawl of departmental proceeding for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 3,000 from one Siba Prasad Jena of Narisasan village under Gop PS,” said a communiqué issued by State police headquarters.
