Cuttack, Apr 8: After few instances of misbehavior and manhandling of doctors and health workers were seen in the state, DGP Abhay has advised all Superintendents of Police (SPs) and DCP of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to ensure safety and security of doctors and other health workers.
The DGP has instructed them to take strong legal action against persons who are involved in assaulting, misbehaving and manhandling of doctors, health workers and other medical staff on duty.
The SPs and DCPs have also been advised to take up prompt investigation on the matter after registering FIR against the culprit. It has been decided to appoint a DSP or above ranked officer to supervise the case and submit the Charge Sheet and Final Form within a month.
“The role of doctors and health workers is very important in fight against coronavirus. They are infact the first line fighters in this war against COVID-19. Their safety and security in the field is the priority of Odisha Police,” said the DGP.
