Bhubaneswar: Thousands of Kanwariyas has thronged Lord Shiva temples across the State to pour water and offer prayers on the last Monday of holy Shravan month.
As part of the tradition, the devotees collect water from different rivers and move to their selected Shiva Temples and pour water on Shivalinga.
Famous Loknath Temple in Puri, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Chandrasekhar Temple at Kapilas in Dhenknal district and Akhandalmani Temple at Aradi in Bhandrak district have witnessed heavy rush of devotees early this morning to pour water and offer prayers.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made at all these prominent temples to ensure that they face no problem and pour water on Shivlingas smoothly.
The kanwariya walk, which began as a north-Indian tradition, has now become popular in Odisha.
The kanwariyas have become a common sight in almost all parts of the State.
