Bhubaneswar: Tension has prevailed in Deogarh as the ‘Rengali Nadibandha Basachyuta Suraksha Samiti’ has begun a dawn-to-dusk bandh, demanding disbursement of compensation for the land, they had given for construction of the Rengali emabanment, at the earliest.
The displaced persons are now conducting picketing at different places in the city. Vehicular movement has been severely hit on National Highway 49 and 53 as activists blocked the NHs by burning tyres.
The police have arrested 12 protestors. Adequate numbers of police personnel have been deployed to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the Bandh.
