Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: The famous 9-day long Durga Puja celebrations entered sixth day today with Puja Mandaps preparing for Saptami Puja tomorrow amid the shadow of Covid-19 pandemic. All the organisers have adapted the new normal due to the pandemic and braced up for low-key Durga Puja this year. Besides nine Puja Mandaps in Cuttack city allowed by the High Court of Orissa, the height of the idols have been restricted to 4 ft as per the state government’s guidelines issued on September 10. However, immersion of idols, including these nine, will be done by the local administration. The High Court has tweaked the state administration to ensure social distancing at venue and proper hygiene during celebrations. The administration has allowed celebrations with limited attendees and has prohibited fairs, foodstalls and procession. Celebrations will be low-key in public areas as most organisers have prohibited physical visit. Most of the puja committees in the twin city Cuttack-Bhubaneswar have arranged live streaming of rituals for devotees.
