New Delhi, Feb 11: A delegation of the Odisha Assembly Committee is scheduled to meet Railway Minister Piyush Goyal here this evening demanding more allocation in the Budget for development of various railway infrastructure projects in the state.
The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) had expressed its disappointment over allocation of less fund in the Budget for railway infrastructure development.
A meeting of the Assembly Committee headed by Speaker Dr SN Patro was held yesterday to discuss about the requirement for railway infrastructure development in Odisha, ahead of the meeting with the Railway Minister today evening.
However, BJP Legislature Party’s chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi walked out of the committee meeting by the Speaker alleging insult by a senior official.
The BJP MLAs stayed away from the delegation that reached Delhi today to meet the Railway Minister.
The allocation for Odisha in the 2020-21 Budget has come down to Rs 4,373 crore from Rs 5993 crore last year.
