Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal on Thursday, which is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm, is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in the State.
“Light to moderate rain/thundershower likely to occur at a few places over districts of Odisha on December 16, at many places over districts of interior Odisha and a few places over districts of coastal Odisha on December 17 and at a few places over districts of Odisha on December 18,” said Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director HR Biswas.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur over districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal on December 17.
“The deep depression is very likely to intensify into a Cyclonic storm in next 24 hours & into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in subsequent 36 hours. It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and cross Andhra Pradesh coast between Ongole and Kakinada by December 17,” it stated.
