Day 5: Congress stalls assembly proceedings over farmers’ issues, House adjourned till 3 pm

Bhubaneswar, 18/11: The state assembly proceedings were paralyzed for the fifth day on Monday. The Congress members stalled the assembly proceedings over the farmers’ issues by storming the Well of the House. Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro adjourned the proceedings till 3 pm in view of the noisy scenes. {"id":20569,"sizeSlug":"large"} As soon as the House met today after a day’s break on Sunday, the Congress legislators trooped into the Well of the House over the distress sale of paddy and opposing the token system. Some of them including Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Suresh tried to climb the Speaker’s podium. Finding it difficult to run the House, Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 3 pm. {"id":20570,"sizeSlug":"large"} On the other hand, the BJP MLAs have been boycotting the assembly proceedings alleging that they were not allowed to speak on Haridaspur panchayat executive officer Smitarani Biswal’s death issue. The opposition had demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. But the government had rejected the demand.
