Bhubaneswar, 16/11: The issue of Haridaspur PEO Smitarani Biswal’s death generated heat in the assembly for the fourth day on Saturday. Opposition BJP members lodged silent protest by standing near their seats with black hankies tied on their mouth. They later walked out of the House and staged silent dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the assembly premises. It seems the issue of Smitarani death case is not dying down. As soon as the assembly met this morning, BJP legislators were seen standing near their seats in the House with black hankies tied on their mouth. They were lodging silent protest over the issue and demanding CBI probe into the incident. The state government had earlier rejected the demand for CBI inquiry. Despite the appeal made by the Speaker, the BJP members continued their protest standing near their seats. Later, they walked of the House boycotting the Question Hour and marched to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the assembly premises. They alleged that the Speaker was running the House instead of resolving the issue raised by the Opposition.
